Anyone can apply for this role
Trust me, I could't believe I found this role either.
What’s up Future PM’s?! This is the first edition of a weekly email with job opportunities and tips on how to land them.
My hope is to help you land the right job — whether it’s your first attempt at being a project manager or you’re a PM hoping to pivot. Because this is the first email, I’ve included four jobs, at four different levels of experience.
Also, you can now officially book a call to pick my brain here.
So let’s dive in!
Ultra Entry Level
Only 1 year of general working experience is needed for this role. Anyone could literally apply for this role.
This is the perfect opportunity to get your foot in the door with an entertainment company.
Tip to set yourself apart
Focus on your Cover Letter: Make sure you include as much from the job posting as you can (soft skills, experience with software, etc.). Focus on your passion for podcasting or media.
Salary Range: $38,000 – $52,000
Mid-Level
This role requires 2-5 years of experience. If you’ve been in corporate for any amount of time and have a decent resume I would still apply for this.
This is a split role that incorporates both coordinating teams (between the merchants, creative designers, agencies, etc.) while also giving you the freedom to work out your creative chops through visual direction and fixture development for a handful of projects — ideal if you’re a people person with a flair for the creative!
Tip to set yourself apart
Highlight Key Experiences: This listing has a LOT going on when it comes to requirements and responsibilities — pick the 2 or 3 that align best with your skillset and tell the story of how you crush that aspect of the job. Don’t be intimidated! You miss all the shots you don’t take.
Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000
Senior Level
5+ years of experience required
This role is looking for a variety of skill sets — there likely won’t be any candidate that possesses all of them, so if you have even 2 – 3 of them it’s worth applying to!
Tip to set yourself apart
Tell Your Story: Pick the 1 thing in the list of skills required that you have a great “win” story for and articulate that in your cover letter. Start with the ending first to grab their attention, i.e. “I saved my company $150,000 by catching this one mistake.” Then go back and explain what went wrong, what the potential was for the mistake, and how you saved the day. It’s a cover letter — brag a little!!
Salary Range: No salary info is given, however this role is likely to offer $130,000+
AWS (Amazon Web Services) | Senior Manager PM-T
Senior Level
6+ years of team management experience
In this role, you will own the long-term technical and business strategy for AWS Billing and influence the technical and business strategy across other parts of AWS. You will own the centralized roadmap across a half dozen general managers within the billing space and collaborate with product and engineering leaders.
.Tip to set yourself apart
Mirror What They’re Looking For: AWS is looking for experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition, as well as experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product. If you possess either of these qualifications, let that stand out on your cover letter, and consider bolding these on your resume to grab their attention.
Salary Range: $158,300 – $307,900
